Abstract

Abstract
Education has traditionally been viewed as a structured process that takes place within formal institutions such
as schools, colleges, and universities. However, in the context of rapid technological advancements, globalisation
and evolving labor market requirements, this conventional understanding of education is no longer sufficient.
Knowledge and skills acquired during formal schooling often become outdated, making continuous learning
essential for individuals to remain relevant, adaptable, and competitive. In the contemporary knowledge-driven
economy, learning has extended beyond the boundaries of formal education to become a lifelong process essential
for continuous skill development. Rapid technological advancements, evolving workplace demands and social
transformations have intensified the need for individuals to engage in learning throughout their lives. This paper
explores the concept and scope of lifelong learning beyond formal education and examines key strategies that
promote continuous skill development across different stages of life.
