Library Resources and Collection Development

The library boasts a diverse and extensive collection of resources to support the academic, research, and recreational needs of its users. Our holdings are classified using the Dewey Decimal Classification system, ensuring efficient organization and retrieval. Here’s a breakdown of our key resources:

Collection Statistics:

  • Books: An impressive collection of 69,960 books spanning various subjects and genres.
  • Journals: Access to 8,859 journals, which includes a significant number of online publications, ensuring access to the latest research and scholarship.
  • Online Database: We provide access to the KNIMBUS online database, offering valuable research and information resources.
  • N-List e-Resources: Over 6,000 e-journals are available through the N-List program, expanding access to scholarly literature.
  • Theses & Dissertations: A dedicated collection of 1,774 theses and dissertations, primarily M.Phil and Ph.D. works, which are housed in a separate Research Scholar Study Room.
  • Bound Periodicals: A collection of 4,219 bound periodicals, offering access to historical research and publications.
  • Newspapers: A selection of 12 newspapers to stay informed about current events.
  • CD-ROMs: A collection of 854 CD-ROMs, providing access to software and specialized information.
  • Technology Resources: The library is equipped with 60 computers for patron use and utilizes 3 servers to manage its resources effectively.

Specialized Collections:

In addition to our general collection, specific areas have been developed to meet the unique needs of our users. A dedicated section is maintained for those preparing for Civil Services Examinations and UGC NET. This section includes resources on History, Public Administration, Economics, Commerce, and General Studies, and is regularly updated to align with the latest syllabus from NGM College.

The library’s collection encompasses a broad spectrum of subjects and formats, including but not limited to books, periodicals (both print and electronic), e-books, audiobooks, DVDs, digital databases, and online resources. We prioritize materials that directly align with our mission, are responsive to user needs, and keep pace with emerging trends. While we strive to maintain a balanced and comprehensive collection, specific areas may receive additional focus based on community interests and demands.
