The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 emphasizes learner-centric pedagogy, competency-based education,
and continuous formative assessment. Traditional assessment systems in India often fail to address learner
diversity and inclusivity. Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based adaptive assessment systems offer a promising
solution by enabling personalized, continuous, and data-driven evaluation. This study examines the role of AIbased
adaptive assessment in supporting NEP 2020 learning reforms. Using a descriptive and analytical
research methodology, the paper analyzes existing literature, policy documents, and secondary data to
understand the effectiveness of AI-driven adaptive assessment. The findings indicate that AI-based assessment
enhances personalized learning, reduces examination stress, supports inclusive education, and aligns closely
with NEP 2020 goals. However, challenges related to digital access, ethical concerns, and teacher readiness
remain significant. The study concludes that AI-based adaptive assessment can significantly transform
educational evaluation when implemented responsibly and equitably.
