| Abstract | ABSTRACT
The digital transformation of India’s banking sector has been significantly
influenced by the active participation of Public Sector Banks (PSBs) and
Regional Rural Banks (RRBs). Leveraging their extensive branch networks
and institutional reach, PSBs have adopted advanced digital technologies
such as mobile banking, internet banking, Unified Payments Interface (UPI),
Core Banking Solutions (CBS), and digital lending platforms to enhance
customer convenience, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen
transparency. Simultaneously, RRBs have played a vital role in extending
digital financial services to rural and semi-urban regions through Aadhaarenabled payment systems, digital payment platforms, and financial literacy
initiatives. These efforts align closely with national priorities such as Digital
India, e-governance, and financial inclusion. This article examines the role
of PSBs and RRBs in driving digital transformation, highlights key
challenges faced in implementation, and emphasizes their contribution to
inclusive and sustainable economic growth in India.
