Abstract

The scriptures of law, including ancient texts such as Ayurveda, Manusmriti, and Dharmashastra, emphasize dietary discipline as a primary means of maintaining health and curing diseases. These scriptures highlight the connection between food, body, and mind, prescribing specific diets based on individual constitution (doshas) and seasonal needs. They advocate for sattvic foods that promote purity and balance, while warning against tamasic and rajasic foods that cause imbalance and illness. The texts also outline fasting, moderation, and proper meal timing as therapeutic methods. Thus, dietary regulation in ancient law scriptures serves as a holistic approach to disease prevention and healing.
